Rankin Creating a Musical Podcast
Students will understand that by utilizing Garage Band technology, they will be able to record and broadcast their own podcast musical play, downloadable for public listening.

Rankin Creating a Musical Score for Literature Text Using Garage Band and Smartboard Technology
Students will understand that musical instruments can represent literary characters, and story lines can be described using musical terminology describing tempo and dynamics. Students will also assign a tempo and dynamic range for various sections of the book The BFG by Roald Dahl.

Students will recognize various voices in the poem, Der Erlkoenig, by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and musical setting by Schubert and in the song, Dalai Llama, by Rammstein; comprehend new vocabulary contained in the lyrics of the Goethe poem and the Rammstein song; compare and contrast the voices in the two sets of lyrics; and recognize and interpret the emotional charge conveyed through pitch, tempo and rhythm.
